SGI Composites was appointed to carry out the refurbishment and GRP lining of a DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) tank at a food preparation facility, delivering a watertight and corrosion-resistant solution for wastewater treatment. To minimise disruption to operations, the project was carefully scheduled and completed over a bank holiday shutdown period. The result is a seamless, durable GRP lining system that has restored the integrity of the tank, eliminating leaks and providing long-term protection against corrosion in a demanding industrial environment.
Effluent-Resistant GRP Lining Applied
SGI Composites completed the application of a high-performance, effluent-resistant fibreglass (GRP) lining to the DAF cell tank, creating a seamless and durable barrier designed to withstand aggressive wastewater conditions. This specialist lining system ensures long-term protection against corrosion, chemical attack, and leakage, extending the service life of the tank.
Surface Preparation & GRP Lining
All internal surfaces were thoroughly prepared באמצעות grit blasting to remove contaminants and expose a clean, sound substrate. A high-performance fibreglass (GRP) lining system was then applied, followed by specialist coatings to create a seamless, fully sealed finish. The DAF tank fibreglass (GRP) lining is now complete, delivering a seamless, watertight, and chemically resistant finish across all internal surfaces. The refurbished tank is fully protected against corrosion and leakage, ensuring reliable, long-term performance in demanding wastewater treatment conditions.
Final Cure & Return to Service
The final coating is subjected to a controlled heat curing process to ensure all surfaces are fully cured and achieve maximum performance. This critical stage enhances the chemical resistance and durability of the GRP lining, ensuring the vessel is fully sealed, protected, and ready to be safely returned to service.
