SGI Composites delivered a high-performance GRP lining solution for aviation fuel tank bund areas on behalf of Farrans Construction Ltd, a leading UK building and civil engineering contractor. Completed Bund Lining:

Project Background & Requirements:
Farrans Construction operates from Belfast International Airport, where it maintains five bunded storage tanks for aviation fuel, diesel, and de-icing fluids. Over time, the existing bunds had deteriorated, with cracks and structural weaknesses developing—particularly at the wall-to-floor junctions. To maintain compliance and environmental protection, Farrans required a cost-effective, long-term solution to restore the bunds and ensure they were fully oil-tight.

Solution & Installation – Completed GRP Lining
Following a free site survey, SGI Composites recommended repairing each bund using a high-performance GRP lining system. This approach creates a “bund within a bund,” forming a fully sealed, secondary containment layer that remains effective even if new cracks develop in the underlying concrete.
